Counselling and Coaching in Hastings

My aim as your counsellor in Hastings is to give you back the freedom to choose how you want to live your life. By looking at the issues which might be troubling you in a safe and confidential space, we would be working together to help you make the changes which might help you to lead a more fulfilling life.

We all have feelings and thoughts about ourselves and others which have come from our past experiences. Often we are not aware of how those experiences are affecting the way we live now. As your counsellor and therapist providing counselling in Hastings, I would be helping you to understand those influences from the past, so that you can then use that understanding to find the freedom to choose to live differently.

Through our therapy sessions together at my practice in central Hastings, you would have the chance to look at your coping skills and how you might deal with change and loss in your career or personal life. You might also want to look at how you relate to others, as well as issues of personal awareness and growth.

Where it feels right, we might draw on the methods of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This approach can be helpful to address the negative and automatic thoughts which can get in the way of changing our approach to life.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy form Roehampton University and a certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Also, where it might help a client, I am able to draw on my earlier management experience as chief executive of two national organisations, experience which can be of particular value for clients with work-related issues. I have an MBA degree from the City University Business School and continue to hold non-executive roles with several organisations.

As well as working with individual clients, I work with couples on relationship issues. And I am able to visit clients in their own homes where physical difficulties might prevent them coming to see me.

I practise mainly from the Wellington Centre in Hastings. I have had a wide range of client experience, including working with depression, anxiety, phobias, relationships, life changes, personal development, stress, and low self-esteem. I have also served in a voluntary capacity with four counselling charities in Sussex and Kent.

I previously served as a Samaritan in London and Sussex. Also in a voluntary capacity, I have been working as a mentor with head-teachers in London through Business in the Community since 1999.
