Counselling in Hastings

Specialising in counselling for depression and counselling for anxiety, I am an experienced psychotherapist offering one-to-one and couples counselling.

If you are in the midst of a crisis or have ongoing difficulties, together we can find ways of creating a more choiceful approach to your life.
As a counsellor in the Hastings and St Leonards area, I work with individuals, couples and groups on a range of issues including anger management, anxiety and depression, bereavement, loss, relationship and family difficulties, addictions, sexuality, and domestic and sexual abuse.

Having trained originally in the USA in 1982 and later with the Sexual Assault Centre, Crawley, I offer specialist rape counselling in Hastings and St.Leonard’s. I am happy to receive enquiries about the process, which will differ slightly from other forms of counselling if there are to be legal proceedings. I have a Stop SO certificate in therapy with sexual offenders and can work with you during all aspects of your process. I do not assess risk or write court reports, but I can supply a statement to confirm your attendance.

I can offer you the space to explore your deepest concerns in a relaxed and non-judgemental context in order to free your potential to find meaning and positive change in an ever changing world.

I work from a dedicated room in my own home where there is ample parking. In addition to working with adults I provide therapy for children, young people and couples.

Clients say counselling can definitely help:

“Its amazing what talking to someone can do!”
“It invisibly unlocks things that would otherwise remain hidden”
“You’re subconsciously unloading without knowing you’re doing it”

About me

I have been practising since 2001, prior to which I was a solicitor and guest-house proprietor. I found I was interested in deeper aspects of personal concerns, and counselling has enabled me to learn and share what brings satisfaction to life. I began my training with an integrative humanistic approach and moved on to concentrate on an existential stance. This really means that I believe we all have within ourselves the potential to find fulfilling ways of living within the constraints of our own particular circumstances. I provide an opportunity for you to find that fulfilment for yourself. My primary qualification is in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling, in which I hold both a postgraduate diploma and a Masters Degree. I use various other counselling disciplines in my practice, including gestalt, transactional analysis and CBT.
I have been a volunteer and supervisor for Cruse Bereavement Care, and in addition to working for Counselling Plus have experience with primary and secondary age children through Place2be and Headstart School, and with students at South Coast College and the Universities of Brighton and Sussex.

I have regular supervision and am committed to continuing professional development; I am fully insured and adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics and am a member of the UKCP.

My fees

  • £40 per fifty minute session
  • £60 for an hour for couples.
  • I offer a 10% reduction for paying for 5 sessions in advance.
  • I have some reduced rate spaces for those on benefits.

I can visit you at home by negotiation. Evening and weekend appointments available.
